So after Air & Style in Beijing Seppe flew straight to the States to shred in Breckenridge and Keystone.
For the first week he went riding in Keystone most of the days. The park out there was so sick, it's one of the funnest parks ever to shred! The first couple of days the park crew was still working on the big kicker line so Seppe just shredded the rail line all day long.
Then after a couple of days the big line opened as well. Pretty much every rider you can think of was out there shredding those jumps.
Here's a little edit from those days:
Yesterday the training for the first stop of the winter Dew Tour started. Seppe will be competing in the slopestyle which starts on Thursday.
You will be able to follow it live on eurosport 2.
Make sure to check back for more info on the Dew Tour soon!
Early bird Anthony headed to Brussels to follow some theoretical lessons on becoming a teacher in snowboard. While he was sweating on some biomechanics started the Quiksilver rail battle in Antwerp. Bjorn and Tim headed over to judge the first 2 heats. Christophe on the other hand left Antwerp for Brussels to teach Anthony and the rest of the pupils some basics about snowboard material. To make things even more complicated, at the same time Seppe rode the first 6 star TTR of the season in Beijing.
Report or pictures from the A&S will follow later. Seppe is in the states for the moment. He texted this morning that he still has some pain in his back. This due to his fall in the second round. He will be riding some rails the next days in order to give his back some rest (at least from heavy impacts). Did you watch the report our national sports channel made about the competition? (in dutch) Here
Back to our report. We just managed to catch some broken images from the competition because of the really slow and fucked up internet connection at the university of Brussels (VUB). When the news came in Seppe didn't make to the superfinals we broke the crappy connection and Christophe started his lesson, best student Anthony followed attentive!
Once this was done they both hurried to Park Spoor Noord in Antwerp to join the crew in judging the competition. Always a hard one a rail battle. But the atmosphere was good and we had a great time at a good event! The level was sick!! Lots of dutchies swinged by and they killed it!
In the end it was Kevin De Haan who took the gold before Kevin Trammer and Mel Lamers.
Lets hope we can have some more of these events in the future!
Allright, the first 6 star TTR contest of the season is about to kick off!
As we mention in our earlier post Seppe is in Beijing to ride the "Oakley & Shaun White Air & Style".
Like last year Seppe flew in one day earlier than most of the riders which gave him the opportunity to see some of the city. But this year he decided to get out of the city and visit some of the culture of China.
So he went out to see the "Great wall of China"!
And man is that a sick thing to see! You know it's a big creation, but it just blows your mind when you're walking on it. As far as the eye can see you see towers on top of some mountain peaks and then you realise that whatever you're seeing is only 1% of the total lenght of the whole wall.
Yesterday it was time to check out the jump.
This year the organisation managed to step up their game and have the contest in the "Birdsnest", the real Olympic stadium.
It fits a lot more people and the jump is more shelterred from the wind.
For most of the riders it was only their 2nd day in China, so they were still having a hard time with the jetlag. But nevertheless everyone got motivated when they saw the jump. It has more pop than last year, which means more airtime! First training went down pretty mellow and everyone just got the feeling of the jump.
Today was an exciting day again. It was time for the DRAW which is always an exciting moment for all the riders.
This year though, there's a different format. There are 12 invited riders and 12 riders that have the chance to qualify for the main event. 4 of them will be able to make it through to the main contest.
For the first round tomorrow Seppe will be up against the winner of the qualifications.
After the draw it was time for the second training session. After a bit of fine tuning and with all the riders having more energy it promised to be a good training. During the night it had snowed a bit as well which made the landing a bit softer and more comfortable.
For Seppe the training went well, he was able to put down a couple of cab 12' and some BS 10's.
All in all it's looking to be an really sick contest and a great show!
Make sure to tune into the live webcast on freecaster.tv to see the whole show!
Praise the lord!
First up, the big one ! As most of you know we have the Air & Style in Bejing going down this weekend. Seppe will be riding there again sending it for Belgium !
He flew there on Monday which gave him 1 day to do a city trip. After a good night sleep he went for a walk on the Chinese wall and he found some weird looking lama family. Aparently people call them camels and our little lama got along with them pretty good !
Today was his first day of training, the jump was still icy and a bit bumpy but the crew was still working hard to make it perfect for the contest. But all the riders were already stoked with the shape, so it's looking very promising for this years competition ! Tomorrow there's is the draw to see who gets to battle who in the main event, It's gonna be sick !
Saturday you can follow it live from 12.30 CET right here.
We wont be able to provide you with live lama updates since Christophe and anthony are in class Saturday. We might try to get a sneak peak of Seppe's runs and keep you posted, but we can't promise it.. But expect Seppe's side of the story soon afterwards !
While all this is happening in China we have a sick railbattle by Quiksilver and threesixtyevents in Parkspoor noord in Antwerp.. Once Christophe and Anthony finish their class in Brussels they're heading over there with the rest of the lama crew to judge the contest and enjoy a nice afternoon at the event !
So in short, your planning for Saturday: 1. Watch Seppe kill it at Air and Style, 2. Head over to Antwerp and enjoy the contest with some friends and good music !
